Alexandar Georgiev made 36 saves to get the win for the Rangers.

Chris Kreider struck for the game-winner with just over three minutes left in the game.

“It’s the things we’ve been doing on the road trip that have given us success in our own zone: hard work, standing up guys.” Kreider said. “Knock on wood, we’ve had a really good effort the last few games. We haven’t given up a lot of odd-man rushes.”

Oliver Bjorkstrand had the lone goal for the Blue Jackets when he tied the game up.

“We’ve got to find a way to be comfortable with the sticks. We’re fighting it a little,” Bjorkstrand said.

Pavel Buchnevich got the Rangers on the board in the fist period with a nifty deflection of a shot from the point by Jacob Trouba,

“We just knew it was going to be a tight-checking game,” Rangers head coach David Quinn said. “You had to play smart. You couldn’t play crazy, take-chances hockey against that team. I thought we did a pretty good job of it.”

Ryan Strome potted an empty net goal to seal the victory.

“We’ve been proud of them for a long time now,” Quinn said. “We think we made some great strides and just continue to play good hockey at a clutch time right now.”

Elvis Merzlikins made 25 saves in the loss.

“We’ve been a team that found ways regardless of what was going on,” Columbus’ Nick Foligno said. “That’s why tonight was disappointing. We probably deserve better.”
