NEW YORK – Once again five different players scored for the Rangers as they earned their 10th win of the year. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist recorded 24 saves in his eighth win of the year.
After what seemed to be a lackluster fist period, Alain Vigneault and the Rangers figured out what needed to be done to get the always vital two points.
“I would say tonight is a good night to use ‘never critique a win,'” Vigneault said. “Take the win. It was our fifth game in eight nights, fourth game in six nights.”
Rangers Kevin Hayes opened up the scoring only 2:12 into the game on a feed from Kevin Klein and Brady Skjei.
JT Miller recorded his fifth of the year, breaking a 2-2 tie at 13:01 in the second period.
“Some games you don’t really have it, but you find ways to get it done,” Miller said. “I think we’re finding a way for everybody to contribute right now and it’s hard to stop for the opposition if you have four lines rolling like that.”
The win concluded the Rangers four games in six nights. The Rangers are 6-1 in their most recent run.
Their biggest player tonight was 21-year old forward Pavel Buchnevich who recored his first goal at Madison Square Garden. Buchnevich slid around the defender and cut across the crease and out waited goaltender Connor Hellebuyck for the open net.
