Rangers post three in third to down Ducks, 3-1

In New York, Alexandar Georgiev made 14 saves including one in the third period, to help the Rangers defeat the visiting, road weary Anaheim Ducks, 3-1.

Trailing 1-0 heading to the third period, New York struck for all their goals in the final frame with Vladislav Namestnikov getting a goal and two assists in the win.

Kevin Hayes picked up the game-winner with a shorthanded breakaway.

Pontus Aberg scored the lone goal for the Ducks in the second period.

Anaheim had one shot on goal in the third period; they were coming off a game in Columbus Monday night.

Filip Chytil closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal with 19 seconds left on the clock in regulation.

The Rangers improved to 15-13-5 while the Ducks dropped to 19-12-5.

The win snapped a 0-1-2 streak for New York was their third win in 11 games, 3-5-3.

Hayes’ game-winner came with just 40 seconds left in the third period and reversed an ugly trend by New York of giving up late leads and losing during the current 11-game stretch.

Chad Johnson got the start for Anaheim and made 21 saves in the loss; Johnson was claimed off waivers from the St Louis Blues.
