PHILADELPHIA – The New York Rangers brought their current losing streak to the ice on Saturday afternoon and did not disappoint the Flyers faithful.
The Rangers’ ineptitude continued in a 3-1 loss.
The Rangers have lost five straight and have been outscored 21-10 in that stretch.
“We weren’t very good today,” Rangers captain Jacob Trouba said. “We talked about putting ourselves in a good position going into the third. Got a goal in the second to get ourselves into the game but couldn’t find that one in the third to tie it up.
“That’s just how it’s been going for us. We’ve got to try to find a stop. Guys are working, guys want to find a stop for this and get back on the right path.”?

Travis Konecny hot for a [air of goals for the Flyers.
Ivan Fedotov made 22 saves in the win. The Rangers showed all the all desperation of a a limp sweaty towel on the bench in taking 23 shots in the middle of a losing streak.
Bobby Brink also scored for the Flyers.
“That was one of Bobby Brink’s better games away from the puck, with the puck, created a lot of turnovers,” Flyers coach John Tortorella said. “He’s checking better. I think he’s more aware of his play away from the puck. Puck follows him offensively. I’m not worried about his offense. Is he going to allow me to keep playing him in situations? … He’s got to instill that confidence in me with his play away from the puck without hurting his offensive play.”
Vincent Trocheck was the lone goal scorer for the Rangers.
“Second [period] was a little bit better, but not much,” Rangers coach Peter Laviolette said. “Third, I thought we pushed, we had chances to tie the game and couldn’t get it done. We left the game in the first period and that can’t happen for a team sitting here looking for ways to win hockey games. Just the work in the first period wasn’t good.”
Igor Shesterkin, who wants $12 million a year, was as lackluster in net as his could possibly be in making 32 saves. He is playing no better than a third string back-up.
