SAN ANTONIO – Bobby Butler scored two goals to lead the San Antonio Rampage (25-14-4-0) to a 5-2 win over the Charlotte Checkers (16-22-5-1) in front of 7,605 at the AT&T Center on Friday night.
John McFarland scored his third goal of the season and first since he returned from injury on Jan. 11 to kick off the scoring. McFarland took a pass from Shane O’Brien and got a jump on the Charlotte defense, wristing a shot past Drew MacIntyre. 
The Checkers evened the score at one with Alex Aleardi’s fifth of the season at 6:27, but the Silver and Black answered less than two minutes later, as Jesse Blacker scored his second goal in as many games to give the Rampage a 2-1 lead.
San Antonio would hold a 3-1 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play, as Bobby Butler flipped in a rebound off a Vincent Trocheck shot to give the Rampage a two-goal lead.
Chad LaRose scored just 1:01 into the middle frame to bring Charlotte within one, and the Rampage took a 3-2 lead heading into the second intermission.
Bobby Butler scored his second of the game late in the third period, and Greg Zanon netted a shorthanded empty-net goal at 17:27 to seal a 5-2 win for the Rampage.
Michael Houser finished with 30 saves on 32 shots, and the Silver and Black held Charlotte scoreless on six power-play opportunities.
