SAN ANTONIO – Eric Gelinas tallied a pair of power-play goals, including the go-ahead tally in the third period to lead the San Antonio Rampage (26-39-5-2) to a 4-3 win
over the Bakersfield Condors (31-27-5-1) in front of 8,401 at the AT&T Center.
The Rampage jumped out to a quick 2-0 first-period lead thanks to goals by Gelinas and Brendan Ranford. Gelinas beat Bakersfield goalie Jonas Gustavsson with a slap shot from the right circle at 2:09 on the power play to make it 1-0. Ranford added to the lead when he stripped Gustavsson of the puck behind the net and banked it off his skate and into the cage at 14:58. But the Condors responded before the end of period when Jaedon Descheneau beat Rampage netminder Joe Cannata with a wrist shot off a Rampage turnover at 18:40 to cut the San Antonio lead to one.
Bakersfield netted the equalizer midway through the second period when Descheneau scored his second of the night at 10:12.
Gelinas capitalized 67 seconds into the third period on the power play for his second goal of the game, giving the Rampage a 3-2 lead. Reid Petryk added to it at 12:44 when Jim O’Brien dug a loose puck out behind the net, finding Petryk in the slot who snapped a wrist shot by Gustavsson for the fourth Rampage goal of the evening. Anton Lander capped the scoring with a power-play goal for Bakersfield at 17:54 but the Condors comeback fell short.
