Rampage complete weekend sweep of Stars

SAN ANTONIO  – Klim Kostin’s second-period goal lifted the San Antonio Rampage (5-1-0-0) to a 3-1 victory over the Texas Stars (3-3-0-1) on Sunday at the AT&T Center. San Antonio’s victory Sunday was the first time in the nine-year history of the rivalry that either team has secured a three-game sweep after playing each other three times in three days.

San Antonio opened the scoring midway through the first period when Jordan Schmaltz connected on a pass from Rocco Grimaldi at 10:14 for his first power-play goal of the season. After collecting the primary assist on the goal, Grimaldi became the seventh skater in franchise history to register at least 100 points with the Silver and Black.

The Rampage extended their lead to two at the 11:50 mark of the middle frame as Kostin became the youngest player to score in Rampage history (18 years, five months, 15 days) with his wrist shot on Stars goaltender Mike McKenna. Texas registered its lone goal of the game when Dillon Heatherington sent the puck off a Rampage defender and into the back of the net at 15:19.
