Rampage burn Heat, 5-3

SAN ANTONIO  ­­­­­– The San Antonio Rampage (33-26-10-0) had five different skaters find the back of the net in a 5-3 victory over the Stockton Heat (30-25-2-4) on Friday at the AT&T Center.

Stockton got out to an early lead at 4:47 of the opening period after Hunter Shinkaruk found Rod Pelley, who fired a wrister from the left circle into the back of the net. Brendan Ranford landed the equalizer 48 seconds later after the forward forced a turnover at mid-ice and beat one Stockton defender and netminder David Rittich for his fourth of the season. San Antonio took a one-goal advantage less than three minutes later when Conner Bleackley collected a loose puck in the slot and fired it past Rittich at the 8:17 mark.

Samuel Blais extended the Silver and Black’s lead 64 seconds into the middle frame with a wrister from the slot for his seventh power-play tally of the season. Rocco Grimaldi gave the Rampage a three-goal lead 90 seconds later after Klim Kostin’s shot attempt was deflected out to left circle to the waiting stick of Grimaldi, who sent the puck into the open cage.  Emile Poirier started the Heat’s rally at the 13:21 mark after he collected a rebounding puck in front of the cage and slipped it past goaltender Ville Husso.

Stockton made it a one-goal game at 9:40 of the final frame after Brett Findlay lit the lamp for the 10th time this season. The Rampage ended Stockton’s rally after holding off the Heat’s extra attacker for the final 53 seconds of regulation, including an empty-net goal from Zach Sanford to secure a 5-3 victory.
