SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage (24-32-4-1) and Spencer Martin shut out the Cleveland Monsters (27-26-3-4) 4-0 on Tuesday evening at the AT&T Center.
Martin stopped all 24 of Cleveland’s shots to record his seventh-career shutout and the First Star of the Game, while forwards Gabriel Bourque and Felix Girard totaled for one goal and three assists on the night.
Riding the momentum of a two-game winning streak, the Rampage opened the scoring when Bourque lit the lamp just 33 seconds into the opening frame. A strong San Antonio forecheck allowed Girard and Brendan Ranford to set up Bourque, as the trio scored the fastest goal from the start of a game this season.
The Rampage added a second goal early in the middle frame when Troy Bourke found the back of the net for his eighth of the season at the 3:33 mark. San Antonio took its 2-0 lead into the second intermission, where the Silver and Black are now 16-0-1-0 when leading after 40 minutes of play.
San Antonio kept the pressure on as they added two more goals midway through the third period. It began when A.J. Greer and Jim O’Brien fed the puck to Shawn St. Amant who blasted it from the slot and into the net for his second goal of the season at 9:30. Just 74 seconds later, Chris Bigras beat Monsters goaltender Anton Forsberg on the right side with helpers from Bourque and Girard 10:44 into the stanza, solidifying a 4-0 victory for the Silver and Black.
