WORCESTER, MA  –  The Worcester Railers Hockey Club (@RailersHC), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the New York Islanders (@NYIslanders), and Railers HC General Manager and Head Coach Jamie Russell officially announced today that the club has signed forward Frankie DiChiara (@frank_dichiara) to an ECHL contract for the  2017-18 season.

Frankie DiChiaria joins the Worcester Railers HC after spending the last four years (2013-17) at Yale University, where he played in 128 games, recorded 30 goals, 42 assists, 71 penalty minutes, a +8 rating for the Bulldogs.
The 6-foot-two, 225lb Ronkonkoma, NY native had the best overall season of his career senior year, playing in 31 games, recording 10 goals, 11 assists, 28 penalty minutes, and was recipient of the John Poinier award, which is awarded to the best defensive player.
Prior to joining the Bulldogs, DiChiara was a member of the 2012-13 Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United State Hockey League (USHL). He played in 64 games for the Fighting Saints and put up 30 goals, 30 assists, 18 penalty minutes, and a +26 rating. He also spent a year with the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) playing in 59 games for the Bandits, and recorded 23 goals, 28 assists, 28 penalty minutes, and a +20 rating.
“Frank plays a solid 200-foot game, as evidenced by his defensive player of the year award at Yale,” said Russell. “He has size, shoots it very well and can play the point on the power play. He is a proven winner, as he won a championship in the USHL and in the NCAA ranks. Frankie will be an impact rookie in the ECHL.”
The Railers are expected to announce more player signings upon approval from the ECHL in the upcoming weeks.
