WORCESTER, MA – The Worcester Railers Hockey Club (@RailersHC), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the New York Islanders (@NYIslanders), and Railers HC General Manager and Head Coach Jamie Russell (@JamieRussell18) officially announced today that the club has signed forward Chris Langkow (@lanks89) to an ECHL contract for the 2017-18 season.

Chris Langkow joins the Worcester Railers HC with a total of six seasons in the ECHL under his belt, having played for the Alaska Aces, Reading Royals, South Carolina Stingrays, and the Elmira Jackals for a total of 53 goals, 90 assists, 125 penalty minutes, in 207 games. He won a Kelly Cup Championship with the Alaska Aces in 2011, and contributed eight goals and three assists in that 13-game playoff run, and was named Rookie of the Month that year.

The 6-foot-1, 190lb Vegreville, CAN native spent the last year playing in Austria for the Olimpija Ljubljana (EBEL) and in Sweden for the VIK Vasteras HK (Allsvenkan).

Before joining the Jackals (ECHL) in 2015, the 28-year-old Langkow spent two seasons (2013-14 and 2014-15) with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL), recording 13 goals, 23 assists, and 50 penalty minutes in 133 games. Langkow also played eight games for the Peoria Rivermen (AHL) in 2011, and seven games for Bridgeport (AHL) in 2012.

Prior to the ECHL, Langkow spent seven seasons in the Western Hockey League playing for the Spokane Chiefs, Saskatoon Blades, and Everett Silvertips, recording 53 goals, 101 assists, and 167 penalty minutes in 263 games.

“Chris is a veteran player that plays with terrific pace,” said Russell. “He will play a vital role in all situations for us. Like many of the players we have targeted and signed, Chris is a former champion and will add to the character in our room.”
