Rage/Eagles pre season opener to benefit Team Borsheim

BROOMFIELD, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Rage will open their preseason schedule on October 8th, and they will begin the preseason by playing the Division rival Colorado Eagles. But this game will have special meaning and purpose. The proceeds of this game will benefit the Les Borsheim Recovery Fund.

Les Borsheim, a 29-year-old defenseman and fan favorite with the Colorado Eagles, was seriously injured on June 1st while riding his motorcycle along a Weld county road. The Colorado State Patrol stated that Borsheim failed to make a turn on the highway and crashed, causing severe injuries to his neck. Borsheim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The injury required airlifting Borsheim to a local hospital for emergency surgery to stabilize his badly broken neck.

Borsheim, a 6th year pro, had just finished one of his most productive seasons. During the season he racked up 9 goals, 13 assists and 145 PIM.

Since the time of the surgery, Borsheim has fought through countless hours of physical rehabilitation to regain some movement, and to gain the physical strength that would allow him to be transferred to Craig Rehabilitation Hospital. That transfer was made on Aug 5th.

The Les Borsheim Recovery Fund was established to help the Borsheim family pay for the medical and rehabilitation costs involved as Les Borsheim fights to recover from his injuries.

A former teammate, and Captain of the Oklahoma City Blazers, Tyler Fleck, has opened a website where anyone wishing to donate money, get updated information, or leave messages of encouragement and support can go. You can also purchase Team Borsheim T-Shirts; proceeds go to the recovery fund. The web site is WWW.TeamBorsheim.com.

Tickets for this game go on sale on the 20th of September, and will be sold for $15. Colorado Eagles season ticket holders will have rights of first refusal on their seats.

Also, as a part of the fund raising efforts during this benefit game, a silent auction will be conducted on the concourse, and special jerseys will be used, which will be auctioned off at a later date. You can also find special items being auctioned off at The Colorado Eagles web site ( www.coloradoeagles.com ). The proceeds will benefit the Team Borsheim Fund.

The goal of the Borsheim Recovery Fund is to raise One Million Dollars to assist in the costs of Borsheims recovery. To date they have raised over $351,000.
