Quebec wins, take series lead Leads series 3-2

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Coming off a 6-5 win the night before, Philippe Boucher’s team had to repeat their performance in hope to return home with a series advantage. After conceding first goal of the game Quebec came back scoring next three goals to sign a 3-1 win in Cape Breton. Quebec will return home with a chance to close their first round Remparts logo Oct 13series on next Monday night in front of their fans.

Several changes had been made by both coaches before game five on Friday night. For Cape Breton head coach Marc-Andre Dumont decide to go with goaltender Miguel Sullivan, and out of last two games with injury, number one center Kyle Farrel came back in lineup.

On Quebec side with Marcus Cuomo injured and Jerome Verrier suspended one game for check from behind, Donovan Rehill and Olivier Garneau played their first playoff game. Defenseman Aaron Dutra replace defenseman Brian Lovell.

Cape Breton opens the scoring on their first shot of the game. Getting a perfect pass from Loik Leveille, Clark Bishop beat Quebec goaltender Zachary Fucale between his pads at 4:26.

Quebec tied the game 10:05 later on their first power play opportunity. Left alone near Cape Breton goalie Quebec captain Kurt Etchegary wrist shot beat Sullivan on his right side for Visitor first goal. Colby Tower was in penalty box for Cape Breton.

Quebec scores the unique goal of the middle frame taking the lead for first time in the game. Using his speed Quebec forward Dmytro Timashov took advantage of some confusion behind Cape Breton goal to put the puck in almost empty net with backhanded shot with 4:06 remaining in the period.

Quebec adds what became the insurance goal in third period scoring their second power play goals on six power play opportunities with Kyle Farrell in the box for high sticking.

A Nikolas Brouillard slap shot surprised Screaming Eagles goaltender Sullivan under left arm only 16 seconds after Farrell penalty began.

Trailing by two with less than three minutes left to play Cape Breton head coach Marc-Andre Dumont decide to pull his starting netminder sending a sixth attackers trying to get a goal as soon as possible at least to reduce the visitor lead to only one goal but it never happened.

Quebec return home leading their series 3-2 with the next two games in Quebec.

Next game in that series will be this Monday in Quebec City.
