Quebec wins in shootout Gentile beats Fitzgerald with Forsberg move

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Coming to Sherbrooke off a victory in Drummondville the night before, Quebec got a second victory needing the shootout before signing their second win in as many nights by the score of 3-2. After Evgeny Kiselev closed the door on five Sherbrroke players and Evan Fitzpatrick stopped four Quebec players, Derek Gentile, imitating a Peter Forsberg move, the Quebec right winger surprised Phoenix netminder, giving Quebec the win. Sherbrooke struck first with only 1:24 gone in opening period. Driving to the net, following great pass from Danny Coulombe, Phoenix center Hugo Roy beat Quebec goaltender Evgeny Kiselev on first shot he faced with backhand shot.

Ranked 13th overall scoring eight power play on fifty chances at 16 percent efficiency, Quebec took advantage of their first chance with man up with 16:35 to play in middle frame. Screened, Sherbrooke goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick couldn’t do anything been beaten over his left shoulder, on Quebec defenseman Christian Huntley shot from the blue line at 4:54.

With the score tied 1-1, a penalty to Quebec captain Matthew Boucher opened the door to the Phoenix. Unable to control the rebound following a shot from Marek Zachar, the young 16 years old right winger who missed most of the opening period after been victim of a hit by defenseman playing forward Alexandre Drapeau Anderson MacDonald beat Quebec netminder at 7:05.

Trailing by one, with less than five minutes in third period Quebec applied pressure in Sherbrooke zone. Working along the board Derek Gentile and Matthew Boucher united their effort winning the battle along the board finding teammates Christian Huntley. The shot from Quebec defenseman beat Phoenix goaltender over his right shoulder with 2:14 remaining in the third period pushing both teams in overtime. Huntley scored his second of the game and last Quebec goal.

Playing exciting three against three overtime period neither teams was able to get puck behind opponent netminders as Kiselev and Fitzpatrick were excellent on both sides. Game went in shootout before finding out a winner.

Quebec will end their three games in three nights over the weekend in Gatineau facing the Olympiques.
