Quebec wins in OT against Saint John Carozza scores game winning goal

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Playing their second game in 24 hours Quebec got the last word, needing overtime before signing 4-3 win against the Saint John Sea Dogs. Leading by two with only half the final period left to play Quebec saw the home team come from behind tying the score 3-3 with third Sea Dogs goals scored with 42.4 seconds on the clock. After both teams was assured of one point in standing teams had to play exciting overtime period that ended unfortunately for Saint John fans with Quebec getting the game winning goal scored by Massimo Carozza 2:26 into overtime period.

Saint John tied the game less than three minutes later scoring on their first power play advantage during a penalty to Quebec forward Matthew Boucher. Jacob Zboril wrist shot from the blue line beat Saint John goaltender on his left side with 11:32 remaining I the first period.

Quebec regained the lead during a five-on-three power play following consecutive penalties to Dawson Theede and Matthew Highmore giving the Remparts a two-man advantage for1:57. Quebec defenseman Nikolas Broullard shot beat Turcotte high on his right side at 15:00. Saint John successfully killed the 1:37 left to other penalty.

If Quebec got the best in shots on goal department and scoreboard scoring twice allowing only one goal against in initial period. Neither team was able to get on board in middle frame but Saint John got the best in shots on goal department 12-8 leading 20-17 after two period but Quebec still lead 2-1 on main scoreboard.

Quebec had two great scoring chances with two-on-one breakaways. scoring on the second. After seeing Bronson Beaton going on breakaway with Dmytro Timashov as the veteran Beaton missing the net, Timashov got a second chance this time going on breakaway with teammate defenseman Matt Murphy. Taking the shot Timashov beat Turcotte on right side giving Quebec two goal leads for first time with 8:41 to play.

Saint John reduced Quebec lead as Matthew Joseph create his own scoring chance as he drove to the net with teammate Daniel Del Paggio. Giving back the puck to Joseph the right winger wrist shot beat Quebec goalie on his left side with 6:42 remaining.

Pulling their goalie and sending a sixth attacker against five, the Sea Dogs tied the game 3-3 on second goal by Zboril with 42.4 seconds forcing both teams to go in overtime.

Playing three-on-three both goaltenders made several key saves before Massimo Carozza went on breakaway beating Sea Dogs netminder between his pads giving Quebec their seconds wins in less than 24 hours.

Quebec will end their Maritimes trip in Cape Breton visiting the Screaming Eagles on Saturday night.
