Quebec wins in OT Timashov gives Quebec the victory

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Leading by five (5-0) after forty minutes of play Quebec saw their opponent score five goals on 13 shots in 11:10 in the third period but finally winning in overtime 6-5 on a Dmytro Timashov goal scored on a breakaway following perfect pass from defenseman Raphael Maheux.

Ending the game with two goals Auguste Impose was the first to admit his team lacked concentration, “I saw worse,” were the first words pronounced by Quebec center Auguste Impose after his team needed overtime to win game against Moncton after leading 5-0.

“We completely missed concentration it went very fast, you just need two or three goals to get the team back in the game. But all we will retain is we won we scores lots of goals in that game that was what we missed in our other games before. For me we simply missed concentration when you lead 5-0 you can’t see your opponent scoring next five goals it is impossible.” Continued Quebec center Impose.

Author of the game winning goal in overtime Timashov seemed to agree with his teammates, “Of course when you lead by five you should win the game. We were in the lead it happens but we win the game and still be happy.

“Like I said we were leading 5-0 and we will have to learn from that. We will have to play better. If you are in the lead like that you can’t lose the game you just have to close the game and learn to play better.” Quebec left winger Timashov said.

For head coach Philippe Boucher, the victory left sour taste. “Yes we won’t hide it we played forty minutes exactly like we would like, like we did against Rimouski but I can’t explain what happened in the third.

“I just go for couple minutes between periods we just reiterated what we did best in first two periods, we would like to continue to play the same way we didn’t wanted to change anything, if they had loses their concentration they learn that like I always say a junior game is never end and we saw that today. But we won the game so at least that is positive. I just hope they learn the lesson fast.” Quebec head coach Boucher said after the game.

Ranked 16th overall with six goals scored in thirty-eight opportunities Quebec took advantage of their first power play chance to open the scoring.

Quebec adds second goal to their lead with only 58 seconds gone in second period on their first shot. Auguste Impose scored his second of regular season on perfect pass from Timashov. The Quebec center redirected Timashov’s pass beating Wildcats netminder low on stick side.

Working in the offensive zone putting pressure on Moncton defense Matthew Boucher did great job leading his team to Bronson Beaton goal. With the puck bouncing back to Quebec right winger stick scoring his second of regular season with 11:30 remaining in second period.

Impose scored Quebec’s fourth goal, his second of the game beating Moncton netminder Fortin high on left side at 12:28.

Quebec came back 2:12 later scoring their fifth goal and fourth in the middle frame leading 5-0 after forty minutes of play.

Young 17-year old right winger scores his first of the regular season. Unable to keep the rebound after first shot by Quebec defenseman Christian Huntley, stationed near Moncton goalie crease Sutton only had to redirect the puck behind Wildcats netminder at 14:40.

Quebec’s fifth goal meant the end of the afternoon for Moncton starting goaltender. Wildcats head coach Darren Rumble decided to replace Zachary Fortin by Sebastien Dupre after Forin has been beaten five times on twenty-one shots.

Trailing by five after first forty minutes of play playing a third games in as many nights Moncton challenged by their head coach Darren Rumble, answered to their coach by scoring five goals on 13 shots in 11:10 to tie the game forcing the overtime.

Moncton got on scoreboard 2:35 into third period. Registering a point in last six preceding games Cornor Garland got an assist on Moncton first goal in the game for them as he made perfect pass to Cameron Askew goal with 17:25 left in third.

Less than two minutes later, a turnover by Quebec veteran defenseman Matt Murphy paved the way to Wildcats second goal. Losing the puck to Moncton Will Smyth the left winger beat Quebec goaltender Callum Booth on his right side at 4:31.

Wildcats center Liam Murphy took advantage of a deflection on Quebec defenseman Murphy’s pad scoring Moncton third goal cutting Quebec leads to only two goals at 9:33.

Playing on same team as his twin brother Kelly, center Kevin Klima scores Moncton fourth goal as his backhanded shot beat Quebec netminder. Seeing his shot been deflected Liam Murphy saw his teammates Klima backhands shot beating Booth for Moncton fourth goals on a power play being 1-in-3 with man advantage. Klima’s goal came at 11:23.

Less than two minutes later Zachary Malatesta completed Moncton come back scoring Moncton fifth goal at 13:45.

Playing for a second time in overtime in front of their fans, Quebec got the game winning goal at 4:41 of the five-minute overtime. A perfect pass from defenseman Raphael Maheux to Dmytro Timashov led to left winger scoring game winning goal beating Moncton netminder Sebastien Dupre between his pads.

After the game Moncton head coach Darren Rumble took the points underlining his players’ effort but recognized that they got no excuse for the way his team played in first forty minutes even if they were playing their third game in three nights.

“We didn’t have great night last night I gave credit to the guys it was our three games in three nights, but we didn’t have any excuses for the way we come out in first two periods. Our goalie was the only guy who was going so I challenged them after the second periods and they responded nicely.”

“We got a point but we feel we got kick in the gut because we lost the game but if you offered me a point starting the third period I would obviously taking it.” Moncton head coach Darren Rumble said after his team lost in overtime.

Quebec will leave next Tuesday for next four games in next five days on the road with first stop in Val-d’Or for Wednesday and Friday night games playing the Foreurs twice.
