QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Losing their last outing in 2015 in Rimouski against their arch-rival Oceanic, Quebec came back with two goals in 20 seconds in the third period to win their first outing in 2016 4-3 against Baie-Comeau. Trailing by one seeing Baie-Comeau scoring with 1:22 into third period Quebec came back with power play goal by Bronson Beaton and Olivier Gameau in a 20-second span signing their first victory in 2016.
Quebec opened the scoring in Baie Comeau on Sunday afternoon playing at even strength. After Quebec forward Yanick Turcote saw his shot block, coming out for behind Drakkar net Alexandre Sills took the rebound and wrist a shot going in at 8:36. For Sills it was his first goal with his new team and his 8th of the regular season.
A penalty to Quebec defenseman Aaron Dutra opened the door to the home team tying the game 1-1 as the shot from Tobie Paquette-Bisson beat Quebec goaltender hitting the post before crossing the line behind Sebastien Dupre on his left side at 17:47.
Three fights broke out in second period before Baie-Comeau took the lead for the first time. Quebec left winger Matthew Boucher dropped his gloves against Samuel Thibault (slight advantage of Drakkar forward), a second fights saw Branson Beaton facing Chad Pietroniro with advantage to Pietroniro and the third one saw Quebec Mikael Robidoux facing Drakkar forward Antoine Girard.
Baie-Comeau took the lead with 7:40 remaining in middle frame as Fabrizio Ricci put the rebound behind Quebec goalie after Dupre made first save on Matthieu Desautels took first shot.
Quebec came back 1:27 later as Boucher redirect the pass from Derek Gentile behind Drakkar netminder living no chance to Antoine Samuel.
Baie-Comeau began the third period on a stronger note taking the lead for the second time. Taking a rebound from shot taken by Matt Jones, defenseman Matteo Pietronero came in slot backhanding the rebound behind Quebec goalie with only 1:22 gone in third period.
Quebec turned things around with the next two goal in twenty seconds; the first bringing back both teams to square one and secondly to regain the lead for good and signing their first win on their first outing in 2016.
Kept out of the scoring sheet scoring, his last goal on November 20th, Quebec center Olivier Garneau left no chance to Drakkar netminder. Getting great pass from defenseman Ross MacDougall Quebec center Bronson Beaton left no chance to Baie-Comeau netminder Samuel beating him low with a one-timer with 12:44 remaining in third period. Drakkar right winger Jordan Martel was in the penalty box, giving Quebec 1-in-4 with man advantage.
A bad outing from his net by recent acquisition by Baie-Comeau from Shawinigan Antoine Roussel gave to Quebec what became the game winning goa. With 12:24 left in the period.
Trying to help teammates behind his net wanting to make a pass Baie-Comeau netminder saw Quebec forward Massimo Carozza stealing the puck from goaltender making perfect pass to Olivier Garneau who backhanded it in net scoring his first goal since last November 20th getting first goal in last seventeen games at 7:36.
Playing at six against four following a penalty to Quebec center Carozza Baie-Coeau tried to tie the game but was unable to getting their 13 consecutive loss.
Quebec next game will be next Friday in Quebec hosting Victoriaville Tigres.
