Quebec wins first exhibition game against Chicoutimi Gagne and Huntley led offense respectively with three and two points

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Losing their first two exhibition games at the hands of Rimouski, playing their third game in three nights Quebec signed their first victory 4-3 against Chicoutimi.

Quebec opened the scoring taking advantage of power play situation scoring twice in the first period.

Quebec defenseman Christian Huntley broke the ice with Quebec first goal at 11:53 during a penalty to Chicoutimi center Jeremy Fortin who had been found guilty of holding at 11:43.  Huntley beat Sagueneens Alexis Shank who left the game in second period at 9:54 allowing two goals on 16 shots. Samuel Cardinal came in the game allowing 2 goals on 6 shots in 29:02 of play.

Quebec came back less than five minutes later playing on power play to score their second goal of the initial period. Defenseman Benjamin Gagne complete the work of teammates Christian Huntley and Dereck Gentile at 16:24.

Chicoutimi came back in middle scoring two goals in span of 1:07. Sagueneens defenseman Olivier Galipeau cut Quebec lead in half as he beat Quebec veteran netminder Dereck Baribeau who played first two periods allowing two goals on 25 shots. Oliver Troops played third period beaten only once on 10 shots.

Sagueneens center Samuel Houde brought back both teams to square one as he scored Chicoutimi second goal at even strength at 18:44.

Three goals were scored in third periods, two by Quebec one by Chicoutimi. Ending first two periods tied 2-2, Quebec European center Philipp Kurashev gave back the lead to the visitor at 10:10.

Chicoutimi center Alexis Gaboury-Potvin scored his second of preseason game trying the score 3-3 at 10:44 of the third period.

Quebec regained the lead 6:05 later with what became the game winning goal scored by Olivier Mathieu completing the work of Jesse Sutton and Mikael Robidoux.

Chicoutimi dominated shots on goal 35-22, Quebec was 2-on-9 on power plays. Chicoutimi ended 0-in-2 with a man advantage.
