QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Coming into Blainville-Boisbriand for first of home and home set showing a record of 6-2-1-1 in their last 10 games Quebec returned home adding two more points in the standing registering 2-0 shutout over the Blainville—Boisbriand. Boucher took charge of visiting team offense. Evgeny Kiselev registered his third shutout of regular season.
Playing methodically the Armada got a territorial advantage against the Remparts in first period even as the game was scoreless. Blainville-Boisbriand got the best scoring chance in opening period but visiting goaltender Evgeny Kiselev closed the door to keep his team in the game. The Armada got the advantage in shots on goal 11-3.
Quebec came in Blainville-Boisbriand with new a player in their lineup. Acquired November 3rd from the Acadie-Bathurst Titan left winger Jonathan Bourcier made his debut with his new team. In return, Philippe Boucher the general manager and head coach of Quebec sent Junstin Ducharme, a third round selection (41st overall) from last June.
Originally selected in 8th round in 2012 (133th overall) selection from the Gatineau Olympiques the Gatineau native played his fifth seasons in the QMJHL showing a career record of 62 goals, 73 assists for 135 points in 215 games.
In 12 games with the Acadie-Bathurst, Bourcier four goals and three assists for seven points with 12 penalties minutes. The 5 foot 8 162 pounds had been traded from Gatineau to Chicoutimi for two and fourth round selection. Bourcier only 30 goals season was with Chicoutimi in 2015-16.
Two fights broke out in the first period. The first one involved Armada defenseman Adam Moisan against Quebec left winger Yanick Turcotte no one got the advantage. The second one saw Blainville-Boisbriand Michael Kemp against Quebec left winger Matthew Boucher another draw one.
While the Armada got the edge in first period, Quebec played much better dominating 14-4 in second period and be the only team to score goal in middle frame. Already been 0-in-1 with a man advantage, Remparts took advantage of the second opportunities with a man up to break the ice.
Quebec captain Matthew Boucher’s shot found tiny hole over Samuel Montembeault right shoulder to give a 1-0 lead to Philippe Boucher’s team at 9:44. Jonathan Bourcier got his first point with his new team and Philipp Kurashev got the assists on Boucher seventh of the regular season.
A third fight involved Armada center Anthony Poulin dropping the glove against Quebec right winger Mikael Robidoux. Blainville-Boisbriand forward got the edge.
Quebec added a second goal on a two-on-one breakaway. After Armada netminder made first save on Bourcier first shot, rebound came right on Matthew Boucher stick who only had to put it in empty net as Montembeault the Florida Panthers prospect can’t come back in time to make de save on Boucher’s second goal in the game with only 1:23 gone in third period.
Blainville-Boisbriand tried to come back in the game as they got several scoring opportunities in last five minutes of third period but Quebec goaltender was there and closed the door blocking all Armada 9 shots in the third and making 21 saves for his third shutout of the season.
Quebec will be back home hosting the same Blainville-Boisbriand team to complete the home and home series. Sunday afternoon game will be the first of six home games for Quebec.
