QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Playing the first of a hone and home with second game in Quebec, the Remparts wins 5-2 against the Oceanic. Dmytro Timashov one goal and adding three assists Bronson Beaton a goal and two assists and Matthew Boucher one goal and two assists led Quebec to their first win against Rimouski this season.
Quebec played a strong first period in Rimouski on Friday night. The visitor took 3-0 leads against the Oceanic, with two out of three goals scored as Quebec was in power play situations.
Already been o-in-3 with men advantages, Veteran Quebec center Bronson Beaton broke the ice with Quebec first goal as Oceanic left winger Antoine Duffort-Plante was in the box. Beaton registered a point in a ninth consecutive game, his goal came at 7:58.
Beating Rimouski defenseman Guillaume McSween along the board Auguste Impose found Massimo Carozza beating Rimouski goaltender Louis-Philip Guindon hitting the puck in the air at 8:43.
Scoring three goals in the period Quebec scores a second one with the help of the power play unit, as Matthew Boucher took a rebound beating Oceanic netminder for third points in first period getting an assist on team first two goals. Quebec third goal came at 9:57.
Seeing his veteran netminder been beaten three times on nine shots Oceanic head coach Serge Beausoleil decided to pull his starting goalie sending young rookie Charles-Antoine Poirier Turcot.
Quebec continued to play strong hockey on the road adding two more goals taking a 5-0 leads before Rimouski replied with first two in 26 seconds at the end of middle frame.
Driving to the net Quebec left winger Dmytro Timashov took first shot on Rimouski goalie. Seeing his first shot blocked by Oceanic netminder Timashov took his own rebound beating Poirrier-Turcot with a backhand shot at 1:27 of second period.
Beneficiary of a five-on-three power play for 1:40 Rimouski wasn’t able to pull the trigger with two Quebec defensemen in the penalty box as Matt Murphy and Raphael Maheux of Quebec been penalized.
Charley Grasskamp scored Quebec fifth goals his fourth in four games with his new team since coming from the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League after no other teams claimed him. Grasskamp goal came with 5:41 to play.
Rimouski offense been off the board, the home team replied with their first two goals in 26 seconds reducing the lead to only three goals in favor of Quebec.
Oceanic left winger Samuel Laberge beat Quebec goaltender Callum Booth on left corner with a wrist shot with 2:17 left to the period.
Getting an assist on Rimouski first goal Pierre-Olivier Demers surprised visiting netminder Booth between his pads. Demers wrist shot beat Booth at 17:48.
Quebec though they had add a sixth goals to their lead when Massimo Carozza hit the puck going behind Poirrier-Turcot but referee wave-off the goal since Carozza hit the puck over the permitted high with 15.7 seconds remaining.
Quebec next game will this this Sunday at home in the Videotron Center hosting the Rimouski Oceanic to complete the home and home series.
