Quebec split series winning second game against Val-d’Or Beaton and Grasskamp led Quebec offense with two goals each

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Coming out on the losing end of the first game on Wednesday night, Quebec scored three goals in the third period leading them to 6-3 win against the Val-d’Or Foreurs. Two goals each by veteran Bronson Beaton and newcomer Charley Grasskamp led Quebec to their first win in this trip of four games in five nights.

Quebec broke the ice for the eighth time in twelve games. The wrist shot from Matthew Boucher beat Val-d’Or goaltender Derek Baribeau over his right shoulder, with 7:31 remaining in the opening period. Remparts logo Oct 13

Quebec had new player in uniform who played his first game in QMJHL facing the Foreurs. Formerly playing for the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League the 19 years old center 6’01 185 pound Charley Graaskamp played his first game on the line with Massimo Carozza and Matthew Boucher.

 Beginning the second period leading by one both team played four-on-four following minor penalties to players on each team at the end of first period. Another penalty to Quebec to newcomer Grasskamp gave to Val-d’Or a four-on-three power play leading to home team tying goal.  

The wrist shot by Philadelphia Flyers prospect Nicolas Aube-Kubel left no chance beating Quebec goalie Callum Booth on his left side 1:05 into second period.

 Quebec regained the lead on goal by Bronson Beaton his fourth consecutive one just as his new teammate came out of penalty box. Beaton’s goal came at 3:44.

 Val-d’Or came back for second times to tie the game 2-2. A bad pass from behind the net by Quebec defenseman Ross MacDougall led to Foreurs  second goal scored by Anthony Richard with 7:03 to play in middle frame.

 The visitor took the lead for third times as newcomer Graaskamp scored his first goal in the QMJHL with Quebec Remparts. The center who formerly played for the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey league beat Val-d’Or netminder on his right side at 16:51.

 But with42.3 seconds remaining Val-d’Or brought back both teams to square one scoring their third goal. Former Quebec Remparts defenseman Vincent Lanoue beat Quebec netminder to his right side. 

 Playing possibly their best period in Val-d’Or in two games against the Foreurs, Quebec came back scoring three times to seal their first victory on the trip.

 Kept out of the scoring sheet in last seven games Quebec center Massimo Carozza scores Quebec fourth goals in the game. Making first save on shot by left winger Matthew Boucher Derek Baribeau was unable to control the rebound. Carozza pick up the loose puck and scored his fifth of the regular season 38 seconds in the third period.

 Author of Quebec second in the game Bronson Beaton came back in third period scoring his second of the game his fifth of the season at 5:00 into the third period.

 Quebec fifth goals in the game has been the signal for Val-d’Or head coach Mario Durocher to pull his starting net minder Bari beau after he saw his 2015 first round pick allowed 5 goals on 18 Quebec shots sending in Etienne Mont petit.

 Playing his first game with his new team after been released by OHL team Sudbury Wolves already scoring his first goal with the team Charley Grass Kamp came back scoring Quebec sixth goals with 3:10 remaining in the game.

 Opportunist, the new Quebec center beat Mont petit high on his left side. Cardoza got the only assist at 16:50.

 Quebec next game will be in Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday facing the Huskies for first of two consecutive meeting. Second one will be on Sunday afternoon.
