Quebec rallies past Baie-Comeau Beaton scores game-winning goal

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —In Monday night’s game, Quebec led for two-thirds of the game only to see Sherbrooke score four unanswered goals to come on top over Quebec. On Tuesday night Trailing by one in the third Quebec scored two goals in 2:37 turning things around in their favor as they were able to come out on top 6-4 against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. Two goals from Zachary Moody and the game-winning goal scored by Bronson Beaton led Quebec to their 22nd victory of the regular season.

Five goals were scored in the first period. Baie-Comeau opened the scoring in Quebec, coming from behind Quebec net Fabrizio Ricci surprised Remparts goaltender at 5:02.

Quebec tied the game exactly five minutes later as young Lucas Thierus redirect a shot from the blue line by Aaron Dutra at even strength.

Getting the first power play in the game playing four-on-three Baie-Comeau regained the lead. Matt Jones the best scoring leader on Drakkar team left no chance, beating Quebec goalie on one-timer at 13:19.

Quebec replied with next the two goals ending the initial period leading 3-2. Zachary Moody scored the first of his two goals in the first period beating Baie-Comeau netminder high on left side with backhanded shot with 5:48 remaining.

Moody gave Quebec their first lead as Matthew Boucher made a perfect pass to Moody in the slot scoring his eighth of the year with only 16.9 seconds left in the period.

Visitor came back and tied the game 3-3 on the second goal of the game by Fabrizio Ricci. Making the first save on shot my Drakkar forward Maximillian Glaessi, Quebec netminder pushed the puck to his left side but Ricci was there and pushed the puck behind Remparts netminder at 5:39.

With the score tied, a penalty to Quebec defenseman Aaron Dutra for kneeing Baie-Comeau left winger Nicolas Leblond proved to be costly as the visitor regained the lead on second goals of the game by Jones. Jones’ wrist shot beat Booth on right side at 17:10.

Quebec dominated 6-0 in shots on goal to begin the third period as Moody missed his third goal hitting the both post refusing to get in. Fortunately for the home team Quebec tied the game on Matthew Boucher wrist shot beating Drakkar netminder on his right side with 3:51 remaining to the third.

Quebec regained the lead for good with a power play goal following the penalty taken by D’artagnan Joly for boarding. Bronson Beaton redirect a shot from the blue line by Quebec defenseman Ross McDougall 2:37 later following Quebec fourth goal scored by Boucher with 1:14 left to the third.

Already scoring Quebec fourth goal, Boucher came back with the insurance goal in an empty net with 22.8 seconds remaining.

For Zachary Moody it was his first time to score two goals in a game. “Yea we really seem good stuff going on as a line I mean that is what is going on, I got lucky on second goal they just got to shoot so. We work hard as a line that is what push us to the top.” Zachary Moody said.

“Yea it is always good for my confidence that is my first two goals game, yea it feels really good.”

Quebec head coach want his veteran to show the ropes to the other in dressing room Bronson Beaton played another solid game besides scoring the game winning goal. “Feels good I think it is real good team effort we battle back in the end it shows lots of character. Quebec right winger Bronson Beaton said after the game.

“For sure you got ups and down during the game but I think we handled it well, I think we never panic so at the end of the game we came on top it is huge wins for us.”

While Philippe Boucher was happy about his team effort last night even if his team lose that game, he was really happy to see his team getting points after another great effort on Tuesday night.

“You have lots of parity in the league even if Baie-Comeau didn’t wins lots of game this year but they work real hard they played real well in the beginning of the year and in their building they work. With the kind of team we have presently if we did not match the work ethic of the other team we won’t win. We have had six players not dress in the beginning of the year they did not always understand but now they are in the lineup we want them to give us more and we played much better in third.” Concluded Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher.

For Baie-Comeau head coach it was another frustrating loss for his team another game where his players work hard but didn’t end with a win. “Certainly, yes it is tough,” answered Mario Pietroniro after his team loses for tenth consecutive times winning only five game in 34 games.

“We were cut on a breakaway we missed little attention on that it makes the difference. It gave us a chance to bring the game in another direction but we were be able to capitalize on that.” Drakkar head coach Pietronero making reference to Quebec defenseman Aaron Dutra five minutes penalty for Kneeing Baie-Comeau right winger Nicolas Leblond.

After the game Quebec general Manager and head coach announce another trade this times a minor one sending goaltender Julian Galloway to the Moncton Wildcats in return of another netminder Sebastien Dupre.

Quebec next game will be on Thursday afternoon visiting the Rimouski Oceanic.
