QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Losing seven of their last ten games, last four in shootout or in overtime, Quebec put an end to their losing streak by shutting out Baie-Comeau by the scores of 3-0. Two goals scored by Quebec left winger Olivier Garneau, one in first, the second in middle frame as the team played on power play led Quebec to their19th win of the year playing their 32nd game of the season. Making 24 save goaltender Dereck Baribeau registered his third shutout of the year.
“Yes it went well on power play, I think, we have had lots of chance but it went well,” Quebec left winger Olivier Garneau said after the game. “Last games were little bit tougher but we really would like to do better before Christmas time. We have had lots of shot, we knew the important thing is not just having lots of shot on net but to have dangerous shot on goal. We put lots of traffic on net, we have had scoring chances but we didn’t given them that much. The one we gave was because we complicated our life a bit. We just have to keep it simple.” Continued the author of Quebec first two goals.
For teammate Olivier Mathieu, he ended his game with two assists as his line mates Jesse Sutton who ends up with 1 goals and two assists, Mathieu was the first to give credit to Garneau.
“Yes it went well, it goes well when we prepare the goal on bench, we just have a goal and it is bringing the puck to the net, I think Antoine Samuel (Baie-Comeau goaltender) made eight saves on same shift, Gabriel Villeneuve who look for his first goal, he wasn’t able to put the puck in the net, goaltender made superb save. If he played with Jesse (Sutton) and Olivier (Garneau) he certainly could have one already. They got coaches confidence, it might be weird to say that but it almost easy.” Ended Olivier Mathieu.

To the first question asked by a reporter what was your team missing tonight? His answered,” two goals.” They didn’t want to put puck on the net, look Quebec, they put the puck on the net, they drove to the net so where are they in the standing above everyone in the standing. It is as simple as that.” Continued Drakkar head coach Bernard.”
“As far as we are concern we try to be too fancy, we didn’t want to put puck on net we don’t want to play the game where we need to be dirty. Exactly they scored power play goals. We have to be able to kill penalty we did it in the beginning of the year.” Ended Visiting head coach Bernard.
“One he is a great offensive player, he takes advantage of his opportunities, I told it six weeks ago when we looked for solutions. He played on our top six on our power play. What we asked to Olivier since the beginning of the year was to be more discipline. For the rest we want him to play like the way he played now. We want him to play like Garneau, like Robidoux and he got some abilities to be able to make the difference, it is fun to see also on power play. Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher said.
“Yes I like it,” answered Quebec head coach Boucher about the fact his team wins in regulation time instead of having to go in overtime or in shootout. “Baribeau has been very solid I adored our young defensemen Villeneuve was very good tonight, Virtue (Braeden) played in all situations, even in tougher situation where his father was better than him, Dajcar (Tomas) played also solid game.” Ended Quebec head coach Boucher.
After playing last four games at home Quebec will take the road for their next game visiting Sherbrooke next Saturday December 9-2017.
Two other games were on QMJHL schedule on Wednesday night
Drummondville vs. Saint John
Halifax vs. Shawinigan
