Quebec completes perfect weekend with shootout victory over Shawinigan Roy beats Cupper for Quebec win

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Victorious on Friday night against Halifax, Quebec had a rendezvous with Shawinigan in the first Winter Classic in Saint Hite. Trailing by two after first period Quebec scores twice in middle frame and got the best in the shootout to complete a perfect weekend with a 3-2 shootout win against the Cataractes

Making first save against Shawinigan center Anthony Beauvillier Quebec goaltender Zachary Fucale couldn’t do anything on the rebound taken by Dennis Yann who only had to push the puck behind Remparts netminder with 13:10 to play.

Shawinigan added to their lead with Beauvillier scoring his 33rd of the regular season beating Quebec netminder to his right side with a wrist shot with 1:40 remaining to the opening period. Shawinigan center got two points in the same game for the sixth time.

Best scoring opportunities for Quebec came from the stick of Anthony Duclair on breakaway and defenseman Nikolas Brouillard on a shot inside Cataractes blueline but both times Shawinigan netminder Marvin Cupper made the saves.

A penalty to Shawinigan defenseman Gabriel Sylvestre with 39.9 seconds remaining to the period gave the chance to Quebec to begin the second period with a power play opportunity with 1:28 remaining to Sylvestre penalty.

Getting the momentum for majority of second period Quebec came back scoring two goals and tying the score 2-2.

Unable to take advantage of 1:28 of power play to begin the period Quebec center Kurt Etchegary jump on a rebound given by Cupper following first shot taken by Quebec Russian winger Vladimir Tkachev becoming the third Quebec 20-goal scorer.

Already been 0-in-2 with a man advantage Quebec took advantage a Shawinigan third penalties in the game bringing both teams back to square one with Ryan Graves 9th of the year as his one-timer from the blueline left no chance to Cataractes netminder who had his view screened with 58 seconds remaining to middle frame.

Already killing a five-on-three power play, in the game Quebec had to kill another one of 59 seconds followed by a five-on-four for 1:30 seconds following consecutive penalties to defensemen Nikolas Brouillard and Raphael Maheux.

After scoreless third period and five minutes of overtime Quebec completed his perfect weekend after Vladimir Tkachev and Marc-Olivier Roy got the best against Shawinigan netminder.

Zachary Fucale has been only beaten by Anthony Beauvillier making saves against first shooter Dennis Yan and Christopher Lalonde.

Next Quebec game will be this Tuesday in Drummondville visiting the Voltigeurs.
