QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Led by Mikhail Grigorenko (1g-2a) and Frederick Roy (0g-3a),playing their best hockey of the weekend, Quebec completed their three games in three nights, bringing back home four out of six points available. Scoring two goals in each period the Remparts won by shutout for the second time over the weekend.
Quebec opened the scoring with two goals in 34 seconds. Making a great move on Rocket blue line Quebec left winger Anthony Duclair fed Grigorenko who scored his 32nd of the year at 10:45.
A penalty to Prince Edward Island right winger Alex Noel led to Quebec’s second goal scored by Gabriel Desjardins completing a perfect tic-tac-toe with a one-timer giving no chance to Rocket goaltender Maxime Lagace at 11:19. Alexandre Contois and Roy united their effort on 21st goal scored by Quebec left winger.
Leading by two after the first twenty minutes of play, Quebec added two in the middle frame. Second in the league with a man advantage with 27.6 percent (62 goals in 225 opportunities) before the game, Quebec scored third goal of the game on their third power play opportunities, already been 1-in-2.
The shot from the blue line by Marc-Antoine Carrier deflected on Rocket player, before going through Lagace’s pad only 16 seconds into penalty taken by Jimmy Oligny for hooking at 3:03.
Left alone in the slot, Duclair who already had an assist on Quebec first goal, scored the Remparts’ fourth goal, redirecting a shot from teammates Ryan Culkin from the blue line, to beat Rocket netminder to his right 10:39 into the second period.
Blocking all Rocket 11 shots on goal after two periods, Francois Brassard who came back in the net after leaving his place to Louis Domingue in preceding game against Moncton close the door for 27 seconds on a 5-on-3 Prince Edward Island power play and 1:31 on 5-on-3 keeping the possibility of registering his second shutout of the season alive.
Quebec completed the scoring with two goals in the third. With 7:58 remaining in the game the Rocket has been caught by Referee Todd Thomander for roughing sending Olivier Croteau in the box.
Quebec ended the 3-in-5 with Logan Shaw’s 18th of the regular season, his 4th with Quebec since the coming with Quebec at 12:02. Contois scored Quebec’s sixth goal beating Rocket netminder under his right arm with 6:13 left on the clock.
Quebec will play their next game this Friday hosting the Gatineau Olympiques. Victoriaville Tigres will be in Quebec facing the Remparts on next Sunday in game that promise to be interesting since both team could battle for ice advantage in upcoming playoff.
