Quebec begins road trip with victory in Victoriaville Quebec put an end to four-game skid

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Beginning a six-game road trip with first stop in Victoriaville, Quebec ended their four-game losing streak with two goals in 54 seconds in third period. Trailing by one beginning the third periods, goals by Thomas Caron and Pierrick Dube in 54 seconds turns what could have been a 2-1 loss to a 3-2 win.

Quebec opened the scoring in Victoriaville on Wednesday night. Quebec defenseman Christian Huntley’s long wrist shot from the blue line beat Tigres goaltender Fabio Iacobo on his left side with 13:41 remaining in first period.

Victoriaville tied the game 4:36 later as Quebec goaltender Dereck Baribeau seem to be surprised by a long shot from the blue line by Adam Gaudreau scoring his first of the year at 10:55.

After successfully killing Quebec only power play in second period, Victoriaville took the lead. After missing his first shot on Quebec goal, Tigres defenseman Dominic Cormier came back from Quebec net to beat Remparts netminder Baribeau on his left side with only 29.1 seconds remaining in middle frame.

Trailing by one after two periods of play Quebec has been the beneficiary of a five-on-three power play for 37 seconds following penalties to Victoriaville forward Jerome Gravel at 8:20 of the third periods and Vincent Sevigny at 9:44. Unfortunately for the visiting team, Tigres were able to kill both penalties.

Quebec came back later in the period with two goals in 54 seconds turning what could have been a 2-1 loss to a 3-2 win. Thomas Caron brought both teams back to square one as he took a rebound shot from Aleksei Sergeev scoring his second of the regular season at 19:05. Fifty-four seconds later it was Pierrick Dube who scored Quebec third goal with 1:01 remaining to the third periods ending by the same fact a four-game losing streak.

Quebec next game will be on Friday night in Chicoutimi.
