Prowlers pull away from Dashers 5 – 2

PORT HURON, MI –  Part III of a weekend series between Danville and Port Huron would end up in the Prowlers taking two of three games from Danville. The Prowlers got the victory 5-2.

This time it was the Prowlers who would own the first goal of the game. Jared Hicks netted the ice breaker on the power play as he deflected a point shot from Justin Alonzo that got by Matt Anthony.  Danville answered on a power play of their own. Ryan Stouffer buried a rebound opportunity that came off a shot from Brad Denney 3:24 after the Alonzo goal.  The teams were tied at 1 going into the locker room after the 1st period.

The 2nd period was all Prowlers.  Austin Daae got his 2nd goal in as many nights, netting the go-ahead goal in the 2nd period coming from the stick of Roger Tagoona. Newly acquired Prowler Zach Tatrn registered his first goal as a member of the Prowlers with 2:09 left in the 2nd period off of assists by Chris Leveille and Matt Fuller. It would be Leveille’s 2nd assist of the night, and the Prowlers were up 3-1 going into the dressing room after the 2nd frame.

Danville rallied in the third period. Justin Levac cut the Prowler lead in half on the Dashers 5th power play of the night, bringing Danville within a goal with 7:24 left to go in the 3rd. Two minutes later Zach Tatrn froze off all the worry warts for Prowler fans, scoring again for his 2nd goal of the night. Len Pelletier added an empty net goal that was the cherry on top of the sundae for the Prowlers, who for the first time this season beat the Dashers in back-to-back games. Matt Anthony would finish his night with 32 saves on 37 shots. Dan McWhinney got his 2nd win in a row, making 32 saves on 34 shots. The two teams will face off again Saturday, February 20th in Danville.
