Carey Price made 26 saves on Tuesday, in a 3-1 win over the Kings in Los Angeles.
It was his 314th career NHL win and ties him with Jacques Plante for most wins for the Montreal Canadiens.
“I’m very proud of the accomplishment so far, but I don’t feel like I’m anywhere near the end of it, so I’d like to obviously continue to have success in this league and continue to push the envelope,” Price said.
The Habs improved to 36-24-7.
“It’s the Montreal Canadiens,” Brendan Gallagher said. “I don’t think you get records (like that) without them being pretty special, and it’s a very special record. I feel fortunate to get to play with him here for the last seven years. He’s the best there is, so pretty lucky to be able to watch him every game.”
Gallagher had a goal in the win.
“He’s been though some good years,” Canadiens head coach Claude Julien said of Price. “He’s also been through some tougher years, and for the most part, he’s always stood tall and done a great job. You don’t reach those records (without) being good, and then finding ways to have success, so deservingly tonight was a good game for him and a good game for our team, so I’m sure it feels good to have that accomplishment.”
The Kings dropped to 24-34-8.
Matt Luff scored the Kings’ only goal midway through the third period after Montreal had built a 3-0 lead.
Shea Weber and Jordan Weal also scored for the Canadiens.
“When you go out there trying to do too much and prove too much … for me, that’s when I’m running around and not doing the right things and staying patient and being in the right positions,” Weal said.

Jonathan Quick made 21 saves in the loss.
“We had some quality chances just around the net, but we were just a half-second slow and we didn’t get to the pucks. But I thought the effort was there again,” Kings head coach Willie Desjardins said after the loss.
