In Nashville, the Predators scored with 0-1 second left on the regulation clock in the third period to send their game with the Calgary Flames to extra time.
Mikael Granlund got that goal and then won it for the Preds in the extra session on a 4-3 count.
“When it went in, I had no clue if it was a good goal,” Granlund said. “I was just trying to find a [television] screen to see ‘Was that a good goal?’ Thankfully it was a good goal, but you were kind of nervous because I had no clue. I just heard the buzzer and the puck went in.”
Juuse Saros made 36 saves in the win.
The Flames had taken a 3-2 lead late in the third before the dramatic finish; Andrew Mangiapane gave the Flames the lead with 44 seconds left in the game.
Calgary’s Mikael Backlund had a goal and three points in the loss.
“It’s a game of inches, right?” Calgary coach Geoff Ward said. “You’ve got to play it right to the last whistle and every play’s important. It was unfortunate, but we’ll take the point for sure. We’ll be happy with probably like 98 percent of the hockey game. I thought we played a real, real solid hockey game tonight outside of a couple of plays.”
Rasmus Andersson also scored for Calgary.
“[Backlund] was awesome,” Ward said. “Absolutely awesome. He’s been playing really well. That line has been good. We’re relying a lot on them, they’re doing an awful lot of good things for us.”
Colton Sissons and Josi also scored for the Preds.
“I think we’ve been trending in the right direction for sure,” Sissons said. “I think this game will definitely give us some confidence and give us a little bit of juice of energy. We’ll take that and run.”

David Rittich took the loss on 34 saves.
“It was a tough way to lose,” Mark Giordano said. “There’s no doubt about that. I thought we did a lot of good things. Great play by [Backlund] to [Mangiapane]. The puck seemed at the end like it was bouncing all around our net, and they whacked it home. I think there was 0.1 left on the clock or whatever it was. Tough point to lose, but I thought we did a lot of good things and we’ll move on to the next one.”
