Predators stay hot with win over Ottawa

In Ottawa, the visiting Nashville Predators trailed the Senators in the third period by a 3-2 count.

Tanner Jeannot tied the game, 2-2, and Ryan Johansen hit for the game-winner in the 13th minute of the third for the 3-2 victory.

“I think after the season, when we’re able to sit back and relax, it’s going to be amazing to look back at,” Johansen said. “As a teammate right now, I just see him doing his thing so consistently. Just dominating the puck, dominating the ice, making big-time plays every game. It’s really a pleasure to be a part of and watch. And the best part of it all is him as a human being and how great of a person he is and a leader for our group.”

Juuse Saros made 27 saves in the Nashville win.

“I think it’s a complete team effort this year,” Nashville’s Roman Josi said. “Obviously, some guys are having great years, which is awesome, but it’s not just the stats, it’s everyone doing their job, which makes it so much fun to play on this team.”

Mathieu Joseph tied the game, 1-1, after Matt Duchene had scored to give the Preds a 1-0 lead.and Josh Norrisscored to give the Senators a 2-1 lead.

“We had breakaways, great looks, and Saros was the difference,” Ottawa coach D.J. Smith said. “We got in there and I thought we overthought it. We got in our own minds. I thought we had a lot of good games by a lot of guys.”

The Predators improved to 41-25-4.

“I thought the guys battled hard,” Joseph said. “[Forsberg] was so good in net for us, but so was Saros. It was a hard game. We knew they needed a win, and they played hard from the get-go. Some unfortunate bounces for us, but I really liked the effort from the guys.”
