In Las Vegas, trailing 4-1 to the visiting Nashville Predators, the Golden Knights scored a pair of goals to trim the deficit to 4-3.
William Karlsson scored the first of the third period double off a power play at with 47 seconds gone in the period for a 4-2 score.
Michael Amadio trimmed the deficit to one goal at 4-3, when he scored at 17:01.
“If you look at the game, it was their depth guys that scored, and it wasn’t (Ryan O’Reilly’s) line that beat us tonight,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “Their depth guys, I thought, were a little better in our depth guys. The middle of the pack guys. One goal better at the end with (goalies), and that was the end result.”
Nashville;s Gustav Nyquist hit an empty net with 1:49 left on the clock for a 5-3 win to the Preds.
Kevin Lankinen made 23 saves in the win.
Nashville moved to 29-25-2,
“[Lankinen] was awesome. He was everything you asked for and more on the performance side,” Predators coach Andrew Brunette said. “We talked about it all year that secondary scoring is going to be invaluable for us. For them to contribute, hopefully they feel good about themselves, and they can build off.”
Nashville took a 2-1 lead in the opening stanza.
Luke Evangelista put up a marker at 5:35 of the first for a 1-0 lead to the Predators.
Alex Pietrangelo replied for Vegas with a goal at 14:09 with a wrist shot from the right ide.
“We just need to better at home,” Pietrangelo said. “That’s a team that lost big last week, so you know, they’re going to come out. They’re fighting for playoff spot, and so are we. So I just think we need a little bit more. I know it’s back to back, but we needed a little bit more tonight.”
Nashville got the lead back with 55 seconds left in the fist on a goal by Cody Glass.
“I played with ‘Hillsy’ in junior. He was my goalie when I was 16, so I got to shoot in on him a lot,” Glass said. “I just tried being quick, releasing it quickly and trying to surprise him.”

Vegas dropped to 32-18-6 off their fourth loss in five games.

In the middle frame, Tommy Novak pushed the lead to 3-1 when he scored at 8:04 juat after a power play ended for the Preds.
Cole Smith stretched the lead for the Preds to 4-1 when he scored off a tip in at 15.
“You need depth in this league,” Nashville’s Roman Josi said. “There’s so many good teams so many teams with depth. So you need scoring from all four lines. I thought everyone did a great job. Every line did their part tonight, and I think that’s why we’re successful.”
Adin Hill made 35 saves in the loss.
