After taking a 3-2 lead in the second period on home ice over the visiting Nashville Predators, the Dallas Stars surrendered three straight goals to lose, 5-3.
Pekka Rinne held off the Stars in the third period and made 36 saves to get the win.
“We played a desperate team that played with a lot of edge and a lot of attitude tonight,” Predators head coach Peter Laviolette said, ” They were fighting for their lives. Like us, they’ve been losing some games and they’ve had some games not go their way, and that makes them on point trying to grab the two points. I was really happy with the response from the last game and the fact that we were able to come back from that game and put it away.”
Roman Josi struck twice for the Preds who improved to 35-22-5.
“I think we just had more speed, more attitude, worked harder,” Josi said. “We weren’t happy with the way we played in Vegas. Kind of had two days here to sit on it.”
Nashville also got goals from Brian Boyle, Rocco Grimaldi and Filip Forsberg.
“It’s not going to be pretty down the stretch. We weren’t scoring highlight-reel goals out there,” the Predators’ Ryan Ellis said.
Tyler Seguin, Esa Lindell and Jason Spezza scored for the Stars in the middle frame.
