In Nashville, the Predators’ Juuse Saros made 29 saves in a 3-2 win over the visiting Anaheim Ducks, on Monday night.
Troy Terry’s 16-game point streak ended in the Ducks loss.
“It’s not like something I think about when I’m out there,” Terry said. “I’m almost, I don’t know, relieved. … It was obviously going to end at some point. The biggest thing for me now is prove that it wasn’t just a streaky thing. I don’t know if starting another is the right way to say it, but just keep playing and show it wasn’t just a streak.”
Ryan Johansen and Yakov Trenin had strikes for the Predators.
“I really like [Johansen’s] skating,” Predators head coach John Hynes said. “He’s skating really, really well. He’s had great energy.
“His skating is definitely a factor. He’s a willing skater. I think his stamina and ability to play at a high pace is what we want.”
Nashville improved to 10-7-1.
“I just feel consistent right now,” Johansen said. “I feel good. I feel fast, feel like I’m skating really well. For me, it’s always been moving the feet and legs pounding kind of thing. That usually leads to some space.”
Anaheim dropped to 10-6-3.
Mikael Granlund had a power play goal for the Predators to them a 2-1 lead in the second period.
“We are a mentally tough group,” Hynes said. “When they saw what happened on that goal, they said, ‘We have to get back to work.’ I liked the way our bench and the players on the ice reacted, especially the first shift after the goal.”
Anaheim’s Jamie Drysdale tied the game, 2-2, in the third period.
“It felt like it was a little challenging for us to get our energy going tonight and get our game going,” Terry said. “That’s on us to make sure we have it … myself included. I’ve got to be a guy that can kind of bring the energy on this team.”
Trenin potted the game-winner at 12:10 of the third off a steal down low.
John Gibson made 32 saves in the Ducks loss.
