Predators double-up Stars Updated

In Dallas, the visiting Nashville Predators broke out to a 3-0 lead on Wednesday night and then hung on for a 4-2 win over the Stars.

Juuse Saros made 25 saves for the Preds win.

After taking the 3-0 lead, the Predators yielded goals to Roope Hintz and Miro Heiskanen in the second and third periods.

Nashville scored with under a minute to go in the opening frame when Ryan Johansen  scored.

“We had a couple of moments where we were sitting back a little bit too much, and Juuse came up with some big saves,” Johansen said. “Obviously very timely, huge moments in those games where we needed our goalie to make a save and he did to help us get that win.”

The Predators improved to 7-5-1.

Tanner Jeannot doubled the lead in the second period.

“I thought it was awesome playing with those two guys [Johansen and Philip Tomasino],” Jeannot said. “It was really fun and I was looking forward to the experience of playing with them. I just wanted to do the same thing, keep playing my game. I know what I bring to the table, so I wanted to be hard on the forecheck and try to get the puck into their hands. And, fortunately, I got the puck in my hands and I got a couple of bounces tonight, so it was good.”

The lead was pushed to three goals when Matt Duchene scored at 17:36.of the middle frame.

Dallas replied with a goal from Hintz  just 15 seconds later.

“I didn’t have any pressure about [scoring],” Hintz said. “I had a lot of chances before that. It’s just not good that it didn’t help with the win.”

Heiskanen hit off the power play midway through the third period to make it 3-2 in favor of Nashville.

“I know exactly what’s wrong with this team, and we’re going to fix it,” Stars head coach Rick Bowness said.

Colton Sissons hit for an empty-net goal late in the third period to seal the win and 4-2 final.

Braden Holtby made 18 saves in the Stars loss.
