Pitt Vs. Navy, The Rematch

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland: Saturday night, October 5, the Navy Midshipmen took on the Pitt Panthers after falling to them the previous night. Unfortunately for Navy, they would end up falling just short, 4-2 in a tightly contested match.

Navy got on the board first, at 11:57, when Brendan Reynolds scored with assists from Joe Walton and Daniel Schoeneman. With time winding down in the first, it was Pitt’s Mark Lauria, unassisted at 19:28, to knot the score at one apiece.

Just one minute into the second period, it was Alex Crilley putting Pitt ahead with an unassisted goal. Navy would fight back at 8:49 with Josiah Tolvo assisting Nathan Hyden with the tying goal.

It wasn’t until midway through the third period, at 10:10, that Oldrich Virag of Pitt scored what would become the game winning goal.  Ben Leslie would tack on another goal at 15:24 to complete the scoring and the two game weekend sweep.

Tristan Carter made 41 saves on 43 shots for Pitt, while Navy’s Charles Doherty made 37 saves on 41 shots.
