ST CATHERINES, ONY – The Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA) reported today that the strike called against the Central Hockey League (CHL) was lifted.
Officials at the PHPA told Pro Hockey News that the termination of the labor stoppage would be announced at 3 PM eastern time.
With the CHL heading to training camps on Monday the decision to lift the strike would seem prudent for all sides. The economic standing of most communities and the already thin discretionary dollar in the North American market would wreak havoc any CHL franchise.
Pro Hockey News will continue to follow this story and report any additional developments.
In the meantime it is apparent that the 2008-2009 CHL season is back on with no labor strife in the offing.
