CHARLOTTE, NC – The Oklahoma City Barons came calling the Checkers of Charlotte last week. The Barons were boasting the best record in the American Hockey League though they were being pursued by the Houston Aeros for the top spot. Meanwhile, the Checkers were coming off a disappointing road trip through Texas and were looking forward to a home-stand to get healthy in the standings.
In a two-game set last weekend, the Checkers were able to grab three points from the league-leading Barons. Despite the efficiency in point collection, Charlotte let an early lead get away from them in the second match and lost in overtime.
Over the course of the brace of games Pro Hockey News was there to capture the on-ice action.
