CHARLOTTE, NC – Friday the 13th had the Charlotte Checkers looking for their first win in the Eastern Division Championship games against the Binghamton Senators. The Senators won the first game Thursday 7-4 and took a 1-0 advantage in the series.
Fridays game showed Binghamton scoring one in the first and that turned out to be the game winner as they went on to a 3-0 final score. The two teams were very much defensive in their play and played a clean game except for minor penalties until the final minutes of play when the Checkers had one player ejected and off-setting roughing penalties.
The Checkers thought they scored in the second period but Brett Sutter, who put the puck in the net, was called for cross-checking just before the puck went in the net.
