NASHVILLE, Tenn – Jake Guentzel staked the Pittsburgh Penguins to an early 1-0 lead Saturday night over the Nashville Predators in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.
If the Pens thought that that early strike would tke the starch out of the Nashville crowd in Bridgestone Arena they were wrong.
While the decibel level was loud during warn ups through those early minutes of the game, it was turned to “11” after the goal.
That emotion was enough to lift the Predators and keep the deficit to 1-0 through the opening 20 minutes of play.
From there on, the Preds and their fans turned up the heat and the excrement en route to a stunning 5-1 win over Pittsburgh.
The Game 3 win trims the Pittsburgh series lead to 2-1 and sets up a pivotal Game 4 on  Monday night Nashville.
Nashville struck for three goals in the middle frame and two more in the third to overwhelm the Pens.
Sidney Crosby and Evgeny Malkin were held without a shot on goal between them both.
