LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa – The Phantoms hosted the Syracuse Crunch in a proxy match between the Philadelphia Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Before a sellout crowd of more than 8,40 fans the Phantoms tried to put on a show to get the season off to a flying start.
But the Crunch used some early success to quiet the throng.
A late rally by the Phantoms faded too quickly and the Crunch skated off with a 4-3 victory.
