ANCHORAGE, ALASKA (Apr. 7) – Landon Bow stopped all 27 shots he faced and Anthony Luciani scored the only goal Idaho would need as the Steelheads stymied the Aces offense in a 1-0 victory Friday night at the Sullivan Arena.
The loss ends Alaska’s playoff hopes. Missouri beat Utah 3-2, but the Grizzlies maintained their 3 point lead over Alaska with just one game to go. Utah claims the fourth and final playoff spot in the Mountain Division.
The game’s only goal came at 2:22 of the first period as Luciani fired a shot top shelf from the left circle on Aces goaltender Kevin Carr, who was outstanding all game long. The goal was Luciani’s 30th of the season.
Alaska’s power play failed them, as the Aces were 0-5 with the man advantage. Idaho was 0-1.
The Aces outshot the Steelheads 27-20 for the game.
