PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Steelers thump Fife, 4-1

On the night the Steelers raised the 2016 championship banner they delivered a 4-1 victory in front of 6,000 fans.

The first period was dominated by the Steelers due in part to Fife’s penalties – numerous power-plays including two 5/3’s – but score they couldn’t.PHN_BSOG-200x133

On his return to the arena Russ Moyer sent an inch perfect pass to Brooks who beat Mustukovs with one of just 3 shots he faces in the first session.

If Moose wasn’t busy in the first, he was in the second making outstanding save after outstanding save – his saves gave the Steelers a chance to get back into the game and returning Levi Nelson netted to tie the score 1-1

All to play for in the 3rd period and the Steelers played their best period.

First Dowd with a quick release off a feed from Nelson made it 2-1

A scramble in the front of the net was eventually touched home by Tyler Mosienko to give the Steelers daylight (3-1)

Mosienko then turned provider in the final few seconds to set up Desbiens the fired top shelf to secure victory for Paul Thompson’s side.

Man of the match was Mike Ratchuk who entertained the fans with his “Eddy”

Steelers travel to Fife on Sunday for the second game of the weekend.
