SHEFFIELD, UK – Ben O’Connot led the charge – Moose had a 31 shot shut out – Steelers scored 3 short handed goals – all in all it was a pretty good night at the arena on Sunday as the Steelers handed the Belfast Giants an 8-0 beating.
The Steelers were simply irresistible in the first period setting the tone for what was to come over the next 60 minutes.
Jamtin was the heartbeat and it was he who combined with Cole Shudra to set up Liam Kirk for the Steelers first at 4.08
Just 26 seconds later Ben O’Connor put on a one man show for his single handed effort for 2-0
Scott Aarssen’s pass found Levi Nelson at 5.41 for 3-0
Then the villain of the Giants Spiro Goulakos fanned on a puck in order for Andreas Jamtin to race down the ice, short handed, and convert on the breakaway for 4-0 at 9.29 – some start for the Steelers.
The only goal of the middle period came again on a Giants power-play – Westerling feeding Ben O’Connor who rifled one top shelf for 5-0
Three more without reply completed the night for the Steelers.
6-0 – A powerplay goal for Matt Marquardt
7-0 a third shorthanded goal of the night for Jonathan Phillips and then to wrap things up a superb 3 on 1 breakaway with Mark Matheson leading the charge and setting up Marquardt for his 2nd of the night – 8-0
