SHEFFIELD, UK – Steelers bounced back to winning way on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over the Coventry Blaze.
Goals from Robert Dowd, Andreas Valdix and Colton Fretter in the first period secured the points for the Steelers.
Steelers fans will however drive home concerned after Zack Fitzgerald was taken to hospital after being hit in the face from a Blaze slap shot.
The game started with a bang – energised with the news that Levi Nelson was back in the line up – the crowd roared and the Steelers followed.
Nelson assisted on Robert Dowd’s opener at 6.37
Luke Ferrara headed to the box at 7.24 on a hooking minor – Nelson then led the charge on the power-play.
Nelson and Dowd assisted on a blast on an Andreas Valdix blast that doubled the advantage.
50 Seconds later it was 3-0 – Colton Fretter finishing nicely assisted by O’Connor and Jamtin.
Vallerand pulled a goal for the Blaze with just less than 3 minutes remaining to send the Steelers in 3-1 ahead at the end of the first period.
The second and third period remained scoreless – both teams having chances on the power-play
Steelers were 1 for 5 and the Blaze 0 for 4 on the night.
