SHEFFIELD, UK – Robert Dowd and Jackson Whistle led the Steelers to a fantastic 4-2 home victory over league leading Belfast Giants on Sunday.
Dowd (2) Ben O’Connor and Shaun McFadden scored the Steelers goals whilst the impressive Whistle closed the door on his former team mates to ensure a split weekend with the Giants
Just over 2 minutes later Dowd, and the Steelers had doubled their lead.
Dowd collected his own rebound and slotted home to send another huge crowd wild.
A 2-0 first period was followed up with a 2-0 middle period.
First of all Josh McFadden made it 3-0 (Anthony DeLuca)
Then Ben O’Connor fired home on the power-play in the 29th minute for a 4-0 advantage – the Steelers were in the form of the season and the Giants didn’t have an answer.
Francis Beauvillier (2nd period) and Blair Riley (3rd) scored consolation goals for the Giants but nothing was going to dampen the mood of the Steelers who move to an 8+2 record in their last 10 games.
