SHEFFIELD, UK -The Steelers did it again, a dramatic come back, a last minute game tying goal and an overtime winner – it was another great night in Sheffield.
Ben O’Connor was once again the hero with an outstanding winner 35 seconds into the additional period.
Aaron Johnson collected the Steelers man of the match award with 2 goals, other strikes came from Justin Buzzeo and Mark Matheson.
It was the Blaze who took an early lead, Ben Lake beating Jackson Whistle at 9.20
Steelers were soon back on level terms, a breakaway effort from Justin Buzzeo (1-1)
Into the middle period and the Blaze were back ahead, Nicolai Bryhnisveen assisted Tim Crowder.
Aaron Johnson scored his first of 2, a powerplay blast off a great feed from Buzzeo at 24.21
35 seconds later and the Blaze were back ahead, Kelin Ainsworth the scorer.
It looked lights out for the Steelers at 38.34 when Hansen netter his second of the night for a 4-2 scoreline.
Steelers then produced a dramatic third period comeback.
First Johnson scored his second, a battle in front of the net with the former NHL’er getting the final touch.
Time was running out for the Steelers and Tom Barrasso pulled Whistle to the bench for the extra attacker. Kevin Noble then took a 2 minute interference minor with 88 seconds remaining. Whistle remained sat on the bench as the Steelers went 6 on 4.
The scramble that followed ended with Jonas Westerling assisting on Mark Matheson’s equaliser with just 10 seconds remaining.
For the second game running the Steelers were to win it in overtime, after going close earlier in the shift it was Ben O’Connor who swerved around Blaze goalie Miroslaz Kopriva to backhand into an empty net.
