PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Steelers drop Clan, 5-3

A winning start to the league season for the Steelers with a 5-3 home victory over Braehead Clan.

The Steelers were first on the board when Robert Dowd scored at 3.23. Braehead came back to tie the game at 11.34 with Cowick scoring.

The Steelers went into the first period break 2-1 up though with who other than Mathieu Roy with the go ahead goal.

The second period belonged to the Steelers with Wharton in the box the power-play went to work with O’Connor scoring his first of the night at 26.32 (3-1)

Valix added a 4th goal at 30.50 – the Steelers went in 4-1 at the break and the game looked as good as over.

Braehead though, showed that Ryan Finnerty fighting spirit and hit the Steelers with two final period strikes.

Craig Peacock scored at 45.55 and then with Zack Fitzgerald off for holding the Clan’s power-play took just 23 seconds to convert to make the score 4-3

Ben O’Connor though was in no mood for his nights work to go to waste and he came up with his 2nd goal (to go with his 2 assists) at 55.02 to ensure a winning start to the league season and a final score of Steelers 5-3 Braehead Clan.

O’Connor was of course the man of the match winner and entertained with a fantastic Eddy
