SHEFFIELD, UK – A welcome homecoming for Jace Coyle as he scored a goal and helped the Steelers to a comfortable 4-2 win against Dundee Stars at ICE Sheffield on Wednesday.
The scoreline didn’t do justice to a Steelers performance that saw them dominate the game – outshooting their opponents 43-20
With Coyle back in the line up Mike Ratchuk moved up on to the wing alongside Messrs: Desbiens and Fretter – and it was that line who combined for the Steelers first goal at 14.11, Ratchuk the scorer with Zack Fitzgerald picking up his first of 2 assists on the night.
At 16.49 it was 2-0 and it was Jace Coyle who finished off a move from close range with Fretter and Desbiens assisting
With Dowd sitting out an elbows minor the Stars took advantage with Poulin scoring on the power-play at 51.59
Steelers soon hit back to extend their lead once again, this time Armstrong scoring at 53.54 (Franzon and Fitzgerald)
Goal of the night was at 48.11, a 4th line special as the speed of Nilsson and Phillips set up Ferrara who converted to put the game out of reach of the Stars.
Dundee did have the final world scoring the last goal of the night. Switzer at 51.49 firing through the 5 hole of Mustukovs.
Man of the match was Fitzy for his 2 point night – he didn’t disappoint with the Eddy – cartwheeling around ICE Sheffield.
