PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Steelers breeze past Edinburgh, 5-2

A comfortable Wednesday night victory for the Steelers at ICE Sheffield as they moved into 2nd place in Elite League standings with a 5-2 victory over the Edinburgh Capitals.

Man of the Match, Markus Nilsson led the way with 2 goals with further strikes coming from Robert Dowd (2) and John Armstrong.

Steelers welcomed back Rod Sarich for the game as he iced for the first time since the CHL experience back in September. Missing for Paul Thompson’s side was Mike Ratchuk, Andreas Valdix and for the main part Colton Fretter.

Whilst the Steelers outshot the Cap’s 12-8 in the first period they only had the one goal to show for it, Markus Nilsson firing a wrist shot past Fullerton at 15.04

The second period started with a bang. First, just 32 seconds in Nilsson scored his second as went to the net and picked up on Mathieu Roy’s assist

Then at 24.50 it was 3-0.

Dowd and Nelson combining with big John Armstrong getting the final touch for a comfortable lead.

Dowdy scored his 1st of the night at 38.47 to put the game out of reach – with Nelson and Armstrong assisting.

Schultz broke Mustukovs shut out at 45.14 to make put the Cap’s on the board (4-1)

Steelers hit back with a 5th, Dowd’s second with just 4.05 remaining to make it 5-1

The Cap’s rounded off the night with Johnston scoring with just 17 seconds on the clock for a final score of Sheffield Steelers 5-2 Edinburgh Capitals.
