
HUNTSVILLE, AL – The Havoc lose the special teams battle early and are unable to overcome the Fayetteville FireAntz in a 4-1 contest during St. Jude night at the Von Braun Center.
The FIreAntz kicked the scoring off for the second straight evening and third time this season against the Havoc with a power play goal 5:28 into the opening frame. Moments later, Fayetteville registered their second man-advantage opportunity to help set up their second goal of the evening at 7:23.
But on a power play of their own, Andy Willigar rocketed a blast at the point to cut the deficit in half. The Innisfail, Alta. native’s sixth of the season at 10:31 was assisted by Scott Fellnermayr and Eddie Nolan.
In the second, Fayetteville regained their two-goal lead with a shot seven and a half minutes into the middle frame. Later in the period, Huntsville saw a few opportunities but could not find the back of the net.
The physical play escalated in the third period with multiple scuffles erupting at the Von Braun Center. With just under two minutes left in regulation, and Huntsville looking for a spark, head coach Glenn Detulleo pulled his goaltender for the extra attacker. But, an interception led to a rolling puck down the length of the ice and into the net for Fayetteville’s fourth goal of the night while sealing the win.
After the game, Huntsville came back onto the ice to salute their fans and auction off game worn specialty jerseys with proceeds going back to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. With your generosity and support, the Havoc raised $35,416 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital located in Memphis, Tennessee and another $5,000 for the St. Jude affiliate clinic at Huntsville Hospital for women and children.
